The folks at PING have been quite busy as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary and as a gift to you, they released two new lines of clubs. One of those is the PING G15 Fairway Wood
which has the unenviable position of following the wildly successful and much praised G10 model.
Rather than leave "well enough" alone and just slap a new coat of paint on the G10 and call it a day, PING went out and changed things around a bit with the PING G15 Fairway Wood
. While it's more of an evolutionary change, it still boasts some pretty cool design features that should make you give it strong look.
So is the PING G15 Fairway Wood one you should add to your list of fairway woods to try out during your next shopping trip to your favorite golf shop? What about the head cover? Is it forgiving? Most importantly, did it knock out my current occupant out of the bag?
The elongated, low profile design of the PING G15 Fairway Wood offers a long, forgiving option for golfers who rely on the confidence of a larger head. An external weight pad on the sole of the stainless steel head positions the center-of-gravity low and farther back to provide higher trajectories and increased distance. Its low spin feature is the result of the low profile design. Also available in a Draw model.
TFC 149F Shaft: Premium graphite shaft designed by PING utilizes lightweight materials and features progressive weight, flex and torsion profiles to increase club head speed for maximum distance while providing optimal launch conditions for superior control, consistency and feel.
Aldila Serrano 75 Fairway Shaft: Premium graphite shaft designed by Aldila provides a great fitting alternative to the TFC 149 family. This shaft will generally provide the golfer with a slightly lower launch angle and spin rate compared to the TFC 149F shaft.
With the PING G15 Fairway Wood, Ping have produced another range of clubs that the mid- to high-handicapper will relish. Throughout the range the PING G15 Fairway Wood inspire confidence at address and the consistent and forgiving results can only enhance this.
The clubs are simple to use, easy to get airborne and the unfussy designs and classy red and black color scheme remove any unwanted complications from the thought process. All you have to do is hit the ball, and with Ping's recommended custom-fitting options there can be no excuses not to improve your game.
